Well, I've found a word that breaks the rule. Can you guess it?
I'm an English whiz too, and I was answering a ? and used this word and the spelling just hit me. For those of you who do know the word, when did you make the connection to the rule?
Is it one of those weird words? :)

... just for starters!

There are many exceptions. It's just a rule of thumb. Weird, height, weight, their, deity, deism, theism, etc.
Don't get too excited about remembering one of dozens of exceptions...
It is not a rule...just a guide. There are many exceptions.
